A Tradição Joanina: História e Teologia

Resumo

Resumo: O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar um balanço da situação da pesquisa sobre as fontes literárias joaninas como elemento configurador da ‘tradição joanina’, a partir da obra clássica de D. M. Smith, “Johannine Christianity” (1987), e assim examinar o contexto da ‘tradição’ desta literatura que justifique a hipótese da exis- tência de uma forma comunitário-eclesial em torno aos escritos joaninos. Obser- vando os diversos textos que compõem o Cânon do NT, é possível argumentar que por sua particular configuração vocabular, estilística e especialmente pela sua singu- laridade teológica existiria uma verdadeira “tradição Joanina”? A hipótese de uma escola joanina, por isso, não tem somente uma mera função heurística, mas indica uma tendência da pesquisa joanina. Ela seria, muito mais, a base para o esclareci- mento da complexa forma literária do Evangelho, como também a compreensão de sua orientação teológica. Em síntese, a questão do ambiente de formação do Joanismo não deveria ignorar a forte possibilidade de encontrarmos em diversos grupos as tendências culturais e religiosas acima citadas, o seu húmus adequado.

The Johannine Tradition: History and Theology

Abstract: The aim of this article is to present a review of the status of research on the Johannine literary sources as a configurator of the ‘Johannine tradition’, based on the classic work of D. M. Smith, “Johannine Christianity” (1987). And, thus, to examine the context of the ‘tradition’ of this literature that justifies the hypothesis of the existence of a communitarian-ecclesial form around the Johannine writings. Looking at the various texts that compose the NT Canon, we are allowed to say that by its particular vocabulary, stylistic configuration and especially by its theological singularity would there be a true “Johannine tradition”? The hypothesis of a Johannine school, therefore, has not only a mere heuristic function, but indicates a trend of Johannine research. It would be, much more, the basis for the clarification of the complex literary form of the Gospel, as well as the understanding of its theological orientation. In short, the question of the environment of formation of Joanism should not ignore the strong possibility of meeting the various cultural and religious tendencies mentioned above, their proper humus.
